SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- The West Coast Conference has unveiled its 2024-25 men’s basketball conference schedule. With the addition of Oregon State and Washington State as affiliate members beginning this season, the WCC will feature 11 programs each playing 18 games over 10 weeks.
For the second consecutive year, the WCC has identified additional dates outside of its Thursday-Saturday schedule in an effort to create opportunities for enhanced television exposure and greater programming flexibility for its programs. The 2024-25 schedule includes conference games on as many as four days in a given week.
The full selection of games from the WCC’s national television partners, ESPN and CBS Sports Network, along with its schedule of contests on ESPN+, will be announced in the fall.
Each of the 11 programs will play eight conference opponents twice and two teams once as part of its 18-game schedule. Conference play is slated to begin on Thursday, Dec. 28, and will conclude on Saturday, March 1.
In 2023-24, the WCC boasted two teams in the final national polls of the season. Gonzaga completed the season as the WCC's highest-ranked team at No. 15 in the Associated Press poll and No. 16 in the USA Today Coaches poll. Saint Mary's wasn't far behind at No. 21 in the Associated Press poll and No. 22 in the USA Today Coaches poll. Both Gonzaga and Saint Mary's earned No. 5 seeds in the NCAA Tournament.
Saint Mary’s defeated Gonzaga to win the 2024 Credit Union 1 WCC Basketball Championship. The No. 1 seed Gaels topped the No. 2 seed Bulldogs, 69-60. It marked the fifth time Saint Mary’s won the Conference tournament and the first time since 2019.
In the NCAA Tournament, Gonzaga advanced to the regional semifinals for the ninth straight year, earning victories over McNeese and Kansas.
Saint Mary’s dropped a decision to future WCC member Grand Canyon in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
San Francisco earned a berth in the postseason NIT, falling to Cincinnati on the road in overtime in the first round.
Washington State won 25 games last season and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament with a victory over Drake.
Gonzaga enters the 2024-25 campaign with four starters returning, including 2023-24 All-American Graham Ike. Saint Mary’s returns last season’s WCC Player of the Year, Augustas Marciulionis, and last season’s WCC Defensive Player of the Year, Mitchell Saxen. Ryan Beasley, the 2024 WCC Freshman of the Year, returns for San Francisco. In all, seven individuals from last season’s 10-member All-WCC First Team are back competing in the Conference this season.
The 2025 Credit Union 1 WCC Basketball Championship returns to Orleans Arena in Las Vegas for the 17th consecutive year. The 11-team tournament will be held from March 6-11, 2025.
