Paulius Murauskas From Saint Mary's Named Lute Olson National Player of the Week

Murauskas picked up a double-double in the win at Washington State

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Paulius Murauskas from Saint Mary's has been named a Lute Olson National Player of the Week as announced by College Insider on Monday.
 
Murauskas guided the Gaels to a 20-point victory over San Francisco last Thursday before a big come-from-behind victory at Washington State last Saturday

Murauskas scored 24 points against the Dons and followed that with 25 against the Cougars. He also collected 12 rebounds against WSU for his ninth career double-double. The week marked the first time that Murauskas scored 20-plus points in back-to-back games in his career.

Within the Conference, Murauskas leads the WCC in rebounding at 8.7 rpg. Murauskas also ranks tied for 11th in the nation with nine double-doubles.
 
The WCC boasts five national players of the week through the month of January. In addition to the honor to Murauskas, the WCC also boasts four USBWA Oscar Robertson National Player of the Week this season in four consecutive weeks. 
 
The Lute Olson National Player of the Week award is named in honor of Hall of Fame coach Lute Olson, who won 776 games in 34 seasons, 24 of which were spent at the University of Arizona. During that stretch he led the Wildcats to 11 Pac-10 Conference titles, 23 consecutive NCAA Tournaments, four Final Four appearances and a National Championship in 1997.
