Jenican and Naone Earn West Coast Conference Men's Water Polo Player of the Week Awards

Santa Clara starts 1-0 in conference play

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – After delivering in the clutch last Sunday in the conference opener, Reese Jenican of Santa Clara earned this week's KAP7 West Coast Conference Men's Water Polo Player of the Week, announced by the Conference on Tuesday. Helping the Lions garner two ranked wins over the weekend, LMU's Alika Naone was announced as the KAP7 West Coast Conference Men's Water Polo Newcomer of the Week. 
 
KAP7 WEST COAST CONFERENCE MEN'S WATER POLO PLAYER OF THE WEEK – REESE JENICAN, SR. – SANTA CLARA
Against conference foe and No. 17 Pacific, Reese Jenican scored a game-high four goals on Sunday against the Tigers. This included the decisive goal with only 54 seconds left on the clock in a match tied at 11. He also tallied a steal and drew an exclusion in the contest. In a match against No. 16 UC Santa Barbara, Jenican drew three exclusions and a steal. This is Jenican's first conference weekly award and the Broncos' fourth conference recognition of the season.

KAP7 WEST COAST CONFERENCE MEN'S WATER POLO NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK – ALIKA NAONE, GR. – LMU
Alika Naone scored a team-high eight goals over the three-game weekend, helping the Lions to two ranked wins. Naone also added five assists, a steal and a field goal block for 13 points. In LMU's conference-opening match against No. 6 San José State last Friday, Naone tallied four goals and six assists. Naone and the Lions started Saturday off with a victory against No. 16 UC Santa Barbara where he posted two goals and two assists against the Gauchos. In LMU's victory against No. 8 UC Davis later on Saturday, the program's second top-eight victory of the season, Naone put up two goals and an assist. Alika Naone also went 4-1 in sprints over the weekend, including going undefeated in the sprints in both of Saturday's victories. This is Naone's first conference weekly award and the Lions' third conference recognition of the season.
