SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Oregon State junior Kyra Ly was voted the West Coast Conference Women’s Golf Player of the Year, while head coach Dawn Shockley was voted the West Coast Conference Coach of the Year and Pepperdine’s Eunseo Choi was voted the West Coast Conference Freshman of the Year, as the Conference’s major awards and all-conference team was announced on Tuesday.
All three major awards, along with the all-conference team, were voted on solely by the league’s six head coaches.
Pepperdine had the most all-conference selections with three. Oregon State and San Francisco each placed two, and Gonzaga, Santa Clara and Washington State each had one representative on the 10-member team.
Pepperdine’s Lauren Gomez and San Francisco’s Riana Mission are each four-time All-West Coast Conference honorees. Gomez was named the WCC Freshman of the Year and Player of the Year in 2022 after capturing her first of two West Coast Conference Women’s Golf Championship individual titles. She also was the WCC Championship medalist in 2024.
Jeneath Wong of Pepperdine and Grace Lee of Gonzaga are three-time all-conference selections. Wong was voted the West Coast Conference Women’s Golf Player of the Year last season. Eva Pett of San Francisco is a two-time All-West Coast Conference pick.
Ly, who is ranked No. 52 in the latest SCOREBOARD by Clippd rankings, earned the West Coast Conference Player of the Year award with three top-five performances this spring, including medalist honors at the Causeway Invitational at UC Davis. Ly finished fourth in the West Coast Conference Women’s Golf Championship this past week with a 2-over 218 in the 54-hole event. She also finished third in the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational in March. Ly was named the West Coast Conference Women’s Golfer of the Month for the month of February.
Choi has excelled in her first season of collegiate competition. She won the Silicon Valley Showcase hosted by Santa Clara in late March with a 5-under 208 for the three-round tournament. Choi also recorded a top-10 showing at the West Coast Conference Women’s Golf Championship this past week, with a 5-over 221 for the conference tournament. She was one of three West Coast Conference golfers to be selected to play in the Augusta National Women’s Amateur this spring, joining Wong and Mission.
Shockley, who is in her ninth season as Oregon State’s head coach, earned her first conference title this past week. Oregon State is in its first year as an affiliate member of the West Coast Conference. She led the Beavers to the team title with a two-stroke win over defending champion Pepperdine. OSU finished 5-over as a team in the 54-hole conference tournament. Oregon State ranks 51st in the latest SCOREBOARD By Clippd rankings and has earned the West Coast Conference’s automatic qualification to the NCAA Championship.
