Women's Soccer And Volleyball Matches Set For ESPNU

Both matches will take place in October

SAN BRUNO, Calif. - West Coast Conference women's soccer and volleyball will be showcased on the ESPN networks once again this fall as announced by the network. The women's soccer match between No. 16 Santa Clara and Gonzaga will be broadcast on ESPNU on Wednesday, Oct. 22, at 6 p.m. The volleyball matchup between LMU at Pepperdine will be broadcast on ESPNU on Thursday, Oct. 30, at 7 p.m. 

Defending Co-West Coast Conference champion Santa Clara will battle the 2023 West Coast Conference champion Bulldogs in Spokane. The Broncos enter the campaign ranked No. 16 in the NSCAA preseason poll with Pepperdine also receiving votes. Santa Clara advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament last season after knocking off BYU in Provo in the first round. SCU finished 2024 with a record of 13-4-4 overall and 6-1-3 conference play.

Gonzaga finished third in the West Coast Conference in 2024 after Santa Clara and Pepperdine tied for first. The Bulldogs went 10-7-2 overall and 6-3-1 in conference play last season. Gonzaga ended the campaign winning five of its final six matches. Amelia Severn returns for GU after she tied for the league lead in assists last season with seven. 

When these teams met last season in Santa Clara on ESPNU, SCU prevailed 2-1 after scoring twice in the final 35 minutes.

Defending West Coast Conference champion LMU went 16-2 in conference play last season and 25-6 overall. The conference championship was the first for the Lions since 1996. The Lions competed in the Stanford Regional, topping Washington in five sets in the first round before falling to the host Cardinal in the second round.  

Pepperdine tied with San Diego for second place last season, finishing with a 14-4 conference record. The Waves ended the campaign on a high note, winning five of their final six matches in the regular season. 2024 all-conference first-team selection Ella Piskorz returns for the Waves in 2025. 

LMU defeated Pepperdine in both meetings last season - 3-2 at LMU and 3-1 at Pepperdine.
