SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Pepperdine was tabbed to repeat as West Coast Conference men’s golf champions, as the Conference’s preseason poll and preseason team was announced Friday.
The preseason poll and preseason all-conference team were selected solely by a vote of the Conference's 12 head coaches. Coaches cannot vote for their own team or student-athletes.
Pepperdine, one of four NCAA Regional selections from the West Coast Conference last year after capturing the 2025 conference championship, received 11 first-place votes and 121 points to lead the preseason poll. The Waves are No. 15 in the Bushnell/Golfweek final fall national rankings.
Pacific, which earned its first NCAA Regional selection since 2013 last season, is second with one first-place vote and 107 points. San Diego, who also competed in the NCAA Regionals last year, is third in the preseason poll with 99 points. LMU, which advanced to the match play finals at the 2025 West Coast Conference Championship and had two individuals selected to compete in the NCAA Regionals, is fourth in the preseason poll with 94 points.
Saint Mary’s (82 points) and Santa Clara (72 points) are sixth and seventh, respectively, in the preseason poll. The Broncos also competed in the NCAA Regionals last season. Washington State (60 points), Oregon State (49 points) and San Francisco (38 points) placed seventh through ninth in the preseason poll. Augusta and Seattle U, each competing in their first season in the conference this year, are tied for 10th in the preseason poll with 29 points apiece. Gonzaga (12 points) rounded out the preseason poll.
The West Coast Conference had one of its best seasons ever in 2025, with four teams earning NCAA Regional bids. It marked the third time in four season the conference had four selections and the 10th consecutive time multiple conference teams earned NCAA Regional selections. Six conference teams were represented altogether with individuals from LMU and Washington State selected to compete in the NCAA Regionals. Pepperdine and San Diego advanced to the NCAA Championship.
Mahanth Chirravuri headlines three Pepperdine players on the preseason all-conference team, along with Brady Siravo and Willy Walsh. All three were on the 2025 all-conference team. Chirravuri was the 2025 West Coast Conference Men’s Golf Co-Player of the Year and individual champion at the conference championship. He was named an All-American by PING and Golfweek last season.
Santa Clara’s J.P. Odland and Washington State’s Sam Renner were also selected to the preseason team after earning postseason all-conference honors last season. Renner was selected to the NCAA Regionals as an individual last season.
The 2026 men’s golf season begins Jan. 26, with several teams in action. The West Coast Conference Men’s Golf Championship will be held May 1-3 at Green Valley Country Club in Fairfield, Calif.
