SAN BRUNO, Calif. – LMU’s Trevor Algya (Highland Village, Texas) has been named the West Coast Conference Men’s Golfer of the Month for February.
Algya captured the individual title at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate Feb. 12-14 at the Ocean Course at Hokuala in Kauai, Hawaii. The senior shot 8-under 202 for the three-round tournament. In the final round, he shot a 6-under 64 to surge ahead and earn medalist honors in a field of 111 players. Algya finished ahead of 14 players in the top 150 in the rankings. He has moved up to 115 in the rankings. Algya led the tournament with two eagles and tied for the second-most birdies with 14.
The senior led LMU to the team title as the Lions finished 10-under as a team in a field of 19, including seven ranked in the top 42 in the nation.
The tournament title was the second of his career. It was his second top-five finish this season.
