SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Maddox Haley from Gonzaga has been named a National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Dick Howser Trophy National Co-Hitter of the Week by the organization as announced on Tuesday.
This is the first national weekly award for West Coast Conference baseball this season. In addition to the national recognition, Haley also collected West Coast Conference Player of the Week accolades this week.
Haley posted a .737 batting average and a 1.684 slugging percentage. He boasted an OPS of 2.434 across the week. He slugged five home runs last week, with two multi-home run games. He scored 10 runs with nine RBI. Haley also added a stolen base and three doubles. He tied a program record for hits in a game with five (including a run-rule walk-off home run) against Washington State. He collected eight extra base hits and 32 total bases on the week.
The Bulldog was tabbed national co-hitter of the week along with Purdue's Brandon Rogers. Max Vaisvila from Northern Illinois was tabbed the national pitcher of the week.
Founded in 1962, the NCBWA is dedicated to the advancement of college baseball. Membership is open to writers, broadcasters and publicists of the sport.
