SAN BRUNO, Calif. – After San Diego garnered two sweeps over Washington State and Gonzaga, the Toreros won two of the final three West Coast Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week awards for 2026. Hannah Read was tabbed the Singles Player of the Week while Vilma Krebs Hyllested won Freshman of the Week. Santa Clara picked up Doubles Team of the Week with Lizanne Boyer and Juliette Krumholz earning the accolade.
WEST COAST CONFERENCE SINGLES PLAYER OF THE WEEK – HANNAH READ, SO. – SAN DIEGO
Hannah Read only lost two games in four sets to go 2-0 in No. 50 USD's perfect weekend. In the 4-0 sweep of Washington State last Saturday, she won convincingly 6-1, 6-0 to be the first to finish in singles. In the 4-0 sweep over Gonzaga last Sunday, she won 6-0, 6-1, and again was the first to finish, marking a streak of 17 straight games won. This is Read's second conference weekly award overall this season and the first time a Torero won conference Singles Player of the Week this season.

WEST COAST CONFERENCE DOUBLES TEAM OF THE WEEK – LIZANNE BOYER, GR., JULIETTE KRUMHOLZ, SO., SANTA CLARA
Lizanne Boyer and Juliette Krumholz won all four of their doubles matches last week, defeating pairs from Pacific, Saint Mary's, Washington State and Gonzaga, all at the No. 3 spot. Their performances helped the Broncos claim a spot in this week's West Coast Conference Tournament. Against Pacific, the Bronco tandem defeated Maggie Hoe and Rayna Sugai 6-1. They later beat Sophie Stanton and Sydney Wilson of Saint Mary's 6-4 to clinch the doubles point in a match the Broncos won 4-0. Facing Washington State last Thursday, Boyer and Krumholz took care of Yura Nakagawa and Zali Morris 6-3 for the first doubles win for SCU. In Friday's regular season finale against Gonzaga, they won 6-3 over Elizabeth Tindera and Diana Yanotovskaya to once again get the first doubles win for the team. The Broncos secured the doubles point en route to sweeping the Zags 4-0. This is Santa Clara's first Doubles Team of the Week award in 2026.

Vilma Krebs Hyllested went 2-0 in doubles and 2-0 in singles in No. 50 USD's perfect weekend. In the Toreros' 4-0 sweep over Washington State last Saturday to clinch second place in the West Coast Conference, she and Maria Shmakova won 6-0 in doubles. In singles, she posted her first career ranked win, 6-2, 7-6 (7-2) on court two to clinch the dual. In the 4-0 sweep over Gonzaga last Sunday, she finished first in doubles again with a 6-3 win. In singles, she won 6-2, 6-4 on the No. 2 court. Krebs Hyllested wraps up the regular season having won three conference weekly awards overall.
