Pepperdine Leads After Day One of the Women's Golf Championship

Round two tees off at 7:30 a.m. Sunday

FAIRFIELD, Calif. – No. 10 Pepperdine leads by four strokes after the opening round of the West Coast Conference Women’s Golf Championship Saturday at Green Valley Country Club in Fairfield, California.
 
Pepperdine carded a 2-under 286 after 18 holes of the par-72 6,174-yard course. The Waves were only team under par on Saturday. Defending Champion Oregon State finished its round with 2-over 290 and is in second, while Santa Clara is in third with a 9-over 297 for the round.
  
Leading the way for the individuals was defending individual champion Raya Nakao of Oregon State, shooting 4-under 68. During round one of last year's championship, Nakao set the course record with a 6-under 66. Two strokes behind Nakao is Santa Clara's Kelsey Kim and Pepperdine's Kylee Choi. Pepperdine's Grace Anderson and Eunseo Choi are tied for fifth with a 1-under 71.
