Waves Sweep Women's Soccer Players Of The Week

Pepperdine shut out Fresno State and Arizona last week

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Two shutout victories, outscoring its opponents by a margin of 6-0, led to Pepperdine sweeping this week's West Coast Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week awards. Julia Quinonez claimed Offensive Player of the Week while Ava Hartstein won Defensive Player of the Week.  

The Gaels have won the last three consecutive conference defensive player of the week awards, a different student-athlete each week. 
 
WEST COAST CONFERENCE OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – JULIA QUINONEZ, SR., F – PEPPERDINE
Julia Quinonez scored on all three shots she took last week, lifting her season on-goal percentage up to .929. She notched her second brace of the season last Sunday against Arizona, and netted both game-winning goals for the Waves last week in two shutout victories. She also tallied an assist in the 4-0 win over Fresno State last Thursday. Quinonez now owns two conference offensive player of the week awards this season.

WEST COAST CONFERENCE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – AVA HARTSTEIN, SO., GK – PEPPERDINE
Ava Hartstein logged her first collegiate start last Thursday against Fresno State, collecting six saves for her first career shutout. She later saved a PK in Sunday's game against Arizona, preserving a second straight clean sheet. This is Hartstein's first conference weekly award and the first time a Wave has claimed conference defensive player of the week accolades this season.
