Santa Clara Duo Collect WCC Weekly Women's Soccer Honors

Kelsey Turnbow named Offensive Player of the Week, Kylie Foutch selected Defensive Player of the Week

SAN MATEO, Calif. – Santa Clara sweeps the West Coast Conference women’s soccer’s weekly honors, as forward Kelsey Turnbow was named the WCC Offensive Player of the Week and goalkeeper Kylie Foutch was selected as the WCC Defensive Player of the Week for November 1, 2021.
 
The Santa Clara duo captured the Conference’s weekly honors following the No. 25 Broncos’ 1-0 victory over No. 11 BYU on Saturday. Santa Clara and BYU enter the final week of the regular season tied atop the WCC standings with a 6-1 record in conference play.

Senior forward Kelsey Turnbow’s goal was the difference in a clash of the WCC’s top two women’s soccer programs Saturday afternoon. Turnbow took a feed from Colby Barnett into the box and fired an off-balance shot that found the back of the net for the score in the 74th minute. The goal was the ninth of the season for Turnbow. 
 
The WCC weekly honor is the third of Turnbow’s career.

#WCCSPORTS DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – KYLIE FOUTCH, SO., GK – SANTA CLARA
Sophomore Kylie Foutch recorded the shutout in goal against No. 11 BYU, holding the top-ranked offense in the nation (3.87 goals per game) scoreless for just the third time this season and first in conference play. The keeper finished with five saves in the match, including a pair of crucial stops over the final minutes, as BYU aggressively searched for the equalizer.
 
The selection is Foutch’s first career WCC weekly honor.
