West Coast Conference Men's Water Polo Roundup - Oct. 22

All eyes on Julian Fraser Memorial this weekend

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – West Coast Conference Men's Water Polo wrapped up the fourth week of the conference play last weekend. California Baptist currently leads the Conference with a 3-0 record, respectively, while Pacific sits at 4-1. San José State heads into next week at 2-1 with Pepperdine, LMU, and Santa Clara sitting at 1-2. Air Force currently stands at 0-4 in conference play.

San José State ranks seventh in the country while Pepperdine sits eighth. LMU (T-10th), Santa Clara (T-13th), California Baptist (No. 15) and Pacific (No. 18) round out the West Coast Conference's ranked squads entering this week's play. 

This Week
All seven West Coast Conference Men's Water Polo programs will be in action this weekend at the Julian Fraser Memorial, hosted by both Santa Clara and San José State. 15 teams will participate in total at the annual tournament. For all tournament action, check out the tournament central page. 

There will be two West Coast Conference battles on the first day of the tournament on Friday, with Pepperdine taking on San José State and LMU facing Santa Clara. 

Through the rest of the tournament, the Waves will face No. 19 Harvard and UC Merced on Saturday. The Spartans will see action against Divison III No. 2 Pomona-Pizer on Saturday and then wrap the weekend up with No. 5 Fordham. The Lions take on Fresno Pacific Saturday and then Bucknell on Sunday, with the Broncos battling two Ivy League foes with RV Brown on Saturday and Harvard on Sunday. 

Before heading to the Julian Fraser Memorial, Air Force will travel to Berkeley to take on No. 2 Cal Friday night. At the tournament, the Falcons will take on UC Merced and Harvard on Saturday, then cap off the events with Pomona-Pitzer on Sunday. 

Pacific will start the tournament on Friday afternoon facing Harvard before taking on Bucknell on Saturday and finishing up on Sunday versus Fresno Pacific. 

To round out the West Coast Conference Men's Water Polo programs in action at the Julian Fraser Memorial, California Baptist will start their action on Friday going up against Brown. On Saturday, the Lancers will take on Fresno Pacific in the morning and Bucknell in the afternoon to wrap up the tournament.

Last Week
Six West Coast Conference Men's Water Polo conference matches were in the pool last weekend. Pacific finished the weekend 2-0, defeating Pepperdine in a tight match 13-12 on Friday and then won 15-11 versus LMU. 

The Waves also competed against Air Force for the final competition of the weekend, defeating the Falcons 18-14 in Malibu. The Lions would also go toe-to-toe with Air Force in the water this weekend, with LMU coming out on top 21-16. 

Santa Clara went on the road this weekend, traveling to Riverside, California for a 13-8 loss against California Baptist and then traveled to San José State in a tough 11-8 loss against the Spartans.
