FAIRFIELD, Calif. - No. 4 seed LMU topped No. 5 seed Portland, 4-1, in the quarterfinals of the West Coast Conference Women's Tennis Tournament at the Green Valley Country Club in Fairfield, Calif.
LMU quickly took the doubles point with a 6-1 win on the No. 1 court and a 6-3 win on the No. 2 court to take the early advantage.
That momentum continued into singles with Helene Schnack and Camilia Samel Druz each boasting straight sets wins on the fifth and sixth courts, respecitvely.
On the number one court, Portland's Alaia Rubio Perez was dominant for the Pilots, securing her own straight-set win, 6-1, 6-4.
With the three remaining courts being close battles in the third sets, Kim-Michaela Zahraj recovered from a first set defeat to win her match, 2-6, 6-0, 6-4, to clinch the team match for LMU.
With the win, the Lions will play No. 1 seed Pepperdine Friday at 3 p.m. in the semifinals.
