SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Pepperdine collected two West Coast Conference Volleyball Player of the Week awards this week, with Laine Briggs named the Defensive Player of the Week and Tristen Raymond tabbed as the Setter of the Week. Santa Clara’s Morgan Hayes took home her second straight Offensive Player of the Week accolade, while Portland’s Kalaweloilehua Chock was named Freshman of the Week.
WEST COAST CONFERENCE OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – MORGAN HAYES, JR., RS – SANTA CLARA
Morgan Hayes posted two double-doubles over the weekend, hit over .300 twice and narrowly missed tying her career high in kills Sunday versus a Power-4 opponent in the Broncos' own Santa Clara Mission Classic. She hit .346 while tallying 26 kills -- one short of her career-high 27 in the season opener versus Eastern Illinois -- and notching 13 digs Sunday versus California. Hayes nearly had a triple-double in Santa Clara's 3-2 win over CSU Bakersfield on Saturday, logging 13 kills, 11 digs and a career-high-tying six blocks. Hayes hit .304 with nine kills versus San Diego State on Friday. She also had two service aces on the weekend. Hayes has now collected two of the first three Offensive Player of the Week awards.

WEST COAST CONFERENCE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – LAINE BRIGGS, SR, DS/L - PEPPERDINE
Laine Briggs averaged nearly half a dozen digs per set and had a reception percentage of nearly 92 percent as the Waves went 2-1 on the week, with the results including a 3-0 win over Eastern Kentucky and a 3-1 victory against James Madison.

WEST COAST CONFERENCE FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK – KALAWELOILEHUA CHOCK, FR., OH - PORTLAND
Kalaweloilehua Chock had 18 kills, 21 digs, 6 assists, three service aces and two total blocks this past week. The outside hitter recorded a double-double against Montana State with 11 kills and 14 digs, a team high in digs for that match. Her 14 digs were also a career high. She is the current team leader in kills (69).

WEST COAST CONFERENCE SETTER OF THE WEEK – TRISTEN RAYMOND, SO., S – PEPPERDINE
Tristen Raymond surpassed 1,000 career assists over the weekend as the Waves posted a 2-1 record. She notched her 1,000th career assist in a 3-0 win over Eastern Kentucky last Friday and now has 1,095 career assists.
